The Future
The future
is the most cosmic, mind-expanding, and philosophically enlightening topic the
human mind can entertain. It is also the source of many of our most pressing
practical problems and issues. Because the future has such great value and
significance, we should do our best to understand it and actively and
intelligently participate in its creation. Each of us should become more
knowledgeable and educated on the possibilities of the future and learn to think
about the future with more depth, breadth, passion, skill, and imagination.
Thinking about the future energizes the human spirit, transforms the mind and
self, expands our mental horizons, and moves us forward within our lives. See

Included in
this web site are a great variety of information resources for educators,
professionals, students, and other individuals interested in developing
their awareness and understanding of the future. There are: Extensive
readings on different futurist topics, from the nature and evolution of
future consciousness and how to enhance it, to science and technology,
wisdom and virtues, and psychology and education; a comprehensive listing of
web sites and print
references on the future; and a listing of presentations, workshops, and
course topics
on the future. Also included in the website are a futurist
art gallery by Tom Lombardo and a poetry room and a humanities and
literature room by Jeanne Lombardo.
Of special value to educators, students, and
researchers, the web bibliography contains both a lengthy alphabetical listing
of futures related websites and individual listings of websites by topics. It is
one of the best website resources available on the future. The readings on the
future cover a diverse and broad range of topics and review the ideas of many
historical and contemporary writers. Topics can be selected and combined to
either supplement or build a core set of readings for courses on the future.
Both the website bibliographies and the readings are in active evolution and new
selections are being added on a continual basis.
